The two-year research project SEMCARE “Semantic Data Platform for Healthcare” is supported by funding from the European Union. The aim of the project is to develop a software platform that will make it easier for clinics to make diagnoses in the field of rare diseases and help in the selection of suitable patients for clinical studies. The basis for this is the automated, content-related evaluation of existing patient data. SEMCARE will combine current text mining technologies with multilingual terminology to provide solutions to typical problems in medical terminology such as Develop ambiguities, abbreviations, spelling variations or typing errors. Leading European health centers from Great Britain, the Netherlands and Austria will test and optimize the analysis software for evaluating medical data in everyday clinical practice.
