The “Cloud4Health” project is the first to provide a secure “trusted cloud” infrastructure for eHealth applications in the healthcare sector. With the involvement of an independent non-profit organization, a high level of protection of sensitive medical data is guaranteed. This is intended to strengthen the healthcare sector’s confidence in cloud computing and thereby open up the possibility of also offering data-sensitive applications in the cloud in the future.
In a highly topical issue, the secondary use of raw medical data, Cloud4Health combines text analysis technologies and data warehouse approaches in specific medically and economically relevant application scenarios. Installed as a private or public cloud, Cloud4Health opens up large, virtual patient populations, which are used for data protection-compliant evaluation of diverse questions from research, development and health economics and contribute to improved patient care.
